Crack, Secret, Elite and Crack

I’m afraid that nowadays whenever I see headlines like this

SAS 'Blades' rescue 150: Crack team of commandos snatch terrified Britons from desert nightmare in war-torn Libya

It always reminds me of this.

This is not to denigrate in anyway the service of those in the SAS, who are the Tip of the Spear, highly trained and excellent at what they do.

But it does seem to be that since the Iranian Embassy siege, any new government can’t wait to find something for them to do and then bask in the reflected glory.

What is very telling is the fact the RAF still has Hercules available which can land and take off in a desert.
Their replacements the C-17 and the over priced politically correct A-400 cannot.

Looks like the 'next time' the SBS/SAS will have to get 'our people' out by camel.

Once again we see that the MOD like every other government department is really not fit for purpose.
